The Barns

Historic Smithonia Farm features three large barns that focus as the main event spaces on the property. There is a 10,000+ square foot heated and cooled event barn that is perfect if you are looking for a historic space with the conveniences of the modern world. This barn is particularly noteworthy for weddings booked on hot summer days or cold winter nights! Too, there is a 7,200 square foot equestrian barn and a 5,000 square foot brick barn. All event rentals come with access to the barns in addition to the pastures, courtyard, and separate bridal and groom’s suites.

The History

Historic Smithonia Farm is, as it sounds, historic! Originally built in 1888 following the civil war, the farm was one of the largest in Georgia. Since then, the buildings have been restored and modern appliances have been installed, but the history of the property remains in tact. The barns feature handmade bricks made from the Smithonia Plantation and 65-foot heart-pine beams cut from trees grown right on the property. A full history of Historic Smithonia Farm can be found on their website, and it is definitely worth a read!
